I'm the artist, paint-covered hands, and slightly chaotic creative brain behind Kasandra the Artist.
I MAKE ART THAT MEANS SOMETHING.
I've never been very interested in making art that simply looks nice on a wall. I want it to mean something. A portrait of the dog who grew up with you. A jacket nobody else in the world owns. Sneakers inspired by something you love. A mural that completely changes the way a space feels.
For me, the best custom art starts with the person behind the idea. That's why every project is different because every person, memory, animal and story behind it is different.
Sometimes the canvas is actually a canvas. Sometimes it's a shoe, a bag, a jacket, a wall or something someone brings me and asks, 'Can you paint this?'

IN VETERINARY
MEDICINE
ART + ANIMALS.
Before many people knew me as an artist, I spent more than 15 years working in veterinary medicine as a veterinary technician. That experience changed the way I see animals and the way I paint them.
I know the ridiculous little expressions people fall in love with. I know how much personality can live in one face. And I understand why a portrait of an animal can become much more than a piece of artwork.
That connection became part of my work as an artist, especially in the pet portraits and more emotional pieces I create.
I REFUSE TO STAY
INSIDE THE LINES.
My work has grown far beyond traditional portraits. I've painted sneakers, jackets, purses, hats, murals, canvases and objects that probably weren't originally intended to become art. That's one of my favorite parts of what I do.
