The Foal is the first painting in my Genesis Collection, a body of work that explores the miracle of life before birth and reminds us that every living creature, regardless of its size or strength, begins in the same extraordinary way.
The idea for Genesis came to me during a late-night drive home. I couldn't stop thinking about how I could bring together the parts of my life that have shaped me most, my faith, my years as a Certified Veterinary Technician, my deep love for animals, and my personal journey through motherhood. After experiencing pregnancy loss and later being blessed with my two daughters, I developed an even greater appreciation for the fragility, beauty, and resilience of life. Those experiences became the foundation for this collection.
I chose the foal to begin the series because horses have long symbolized freedom, strength, hope, and the promise of new beginnings. Before they gallop across open fields with power and confidence, they begin as something incredibly small, protected within the womb. That quiet beginning is where every story starts.
Through The Foal, I invite viewers to pause and reflect on the shared origin of all life. It is a celebration of creation, hope, and the extraordinary beauty found in the earliest moments of existence.
